About The Event

Join us for edition #001 of the Ottawa Kanban Meetup. The topic at this month's meetup will be FLOW METRICS. We are going to build on some of the topics that were introduced when we played the GetKanban simulation last month. The Kanban Method encourages us to improve our predictability and service delivery by taking a probabilistic approach that uses models coupled with the scientific method. What does that mean and how can FLOW METRICS play a part in helping us aspire to this end?

Things we'll cover:

  • What are flow metrics?
  • Deterministic vs Probabilistic thinking
  • Forecasting
  • Throughput
  • Work in Progress (WIP) Limits
  • Lead Time / Cycle Time / Time In Process
  • WIP Aging - and why it matters
  • Lead Time Distributions
  • Cycle Time Scatterplots
  • Cumulative Flow Diagrams
  • Little's Law
  • Developing SLA's

While covering those topics, we will try and relate them back to the GetKanban simulation that we played at Meetup #000. But don't worry, if you were not at that event, all of this will be presented in a way that will still make sense.

Hope to see you there!

James
